About us

Our values

William Heynes Ltd prides itself on securing originality through preservation and restoration of our vehicles. The cars that come through our workshop are the closest you can get to having the original car as it rolled off the production line. There are countless transitional differences between the weeks, months and years of E-Types, from body drain holes to flange depths, to completely individual panel-work. Mechanically, differences can include drive shafts to shock absorbers, casting dates to electrical dating. Our cars mellow with time instead of being stuck in time. We search the globe for reference points to make sure that your car will be the highest quality and as correct to the period as possible.

Our portfolio

Since founding William Heynes Ltd in 2021 with his wife Amy Shore, William and the team have restored, recommissioned or reported on a number of historically significant early Jaguar E-Types. As well as maintaining and restoring some of the world’s most important road E-Types, we have welcomed many other models of road and racing Jaguars over the years.

We believe that our customers choose to work with us as they understand and value the unparalleled quality of the work we produce. A focus on authenticity, quality and attention to detail is central to everything we do, which is reflected in our portfolio of completed vehicles. We could not do this without the incredible team we have under the William Heynes Ltd workshop roof.

History

Given William’s grandfather’s legacy it perhaps will not come as a surprise that he has been driving E-Types and XKs from the time he could reach the pedals! Over the years he has heard many stories from his father about his time spent at Browns Lane and all the period races - and, most importantly, the people involved who are as passionate about these cars as their family.

Growing up, William’s father had every 50s and 60s Jaguar sports cars designed by his own father (excluding a C-Type and D-Type) to practise his driving skills and learn the intricacies of these machines. This knowledge is part of his family’s heritage and it has given him a true understanding of the values and the historical importance of these cars.

He believes the cars to be not just another classic car, but to be true pieces of art and history that uphold everything it means to be called a Jaguar. William is extremely proud to be continuing his father’s and grandfather’s work by ensuring that we restore and preserve these special vehicles with as much originality as possible for many generations to come.

Since 2023, William Heynes Ltd has been a member of the HCVA and William himself has been a member of the advisory group for the organisation. More recently, William became involved in inspiring youth engagement in the historic motoring community, through his role as a trustee of the Startermotor charity.

“The question I ask customers when discussing early E-Types is not ‘What year was your car made?’, but instead, ‘What week was your car made?’ - That is the definition of a Heynes restoration.”

Experience

William’s understanding of the inner workings of an E-Type is unrivalled. Starting from being raised immersed in Jaguar heritage as a child, onto beginning his career working in fabrication and body work and through scouring the globe procuring cars for clients; there are few living who have amassed an understanding of these cars as thorough and as deep as William's.

William Heynes Limited have prepared E-Type projects for a wide range of events including a preservation project which was accepted into 2022’s Pebble Beach Concours. In 2021, William was a judge at Hampton Court’s Concours of Elegance for the Jaguar Trophy Award.

Whether working with clients for a full vehicle restoration or light recommissioning, William Heynes and his team have the experience and expertise required to complete all aspects of the process to the highest standards.
